Updates from the Sick House

Mar 18, 2011

NOTE: If you're here for the Show Me the Voice blogfest, you can find my entry here!

So the Kiddo got sick a few days ago, hence the sparse posting this week. It's always sad to see him lethargic and feverish, but luckily he's on the mend. Which is good for several reasons, not least of which is I can't bear to watch Ninja Turtles one more time.

Unfortunately, now I'm starting to feel under the weather, so I still have no real post for today. Just a few housekeeping things.

First, thanks to Karen and Gale for my most recent awards! You ladies are awesome. :)

Also, you can now find me on Goodreads! I had an old account with my maiden name I haven't touched in years, but last night I created a new one and spent WAY too much time on it. If you're there, find me and friend me!

And my crit mate and friend Chersti is holding a contest of awesomeness on her blog! Enter your first line and get a chance at some awesome agent critiques-- plus a discount on the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers conference in June!

With any luck, my voice will hold out for me to keep reading Devs out loud over the next few days. I may still have a few revisions as I go through this final read-through, but my goal is to finish and start querying by May 1-- just in time for the LDStorymakers Conference! Wish me luck. :)

It's always tough when the little ones are sick. I'm glad he's feeling better and I hope you do, too.

I hope you don't get too sick...or better off, not any sicker at all. I'm glad the cute kid is feeling better :) And yay for Dev's. I wish I could be at the conference with you. Good luck with the final read through's.

Have you ever tried Echanacea? It's an herb you take that strengthens your immune system. It's pretty much a magical cure for all illnesses. I start taking it whenever people around me are sick as a preventative measure. My husband refuses to take it, and I only feel ill for half as long as him.

Thanks for friending me on Goodreads! And I love to see people setting and striving for goals - yay for the start of querying in May goal! I am hoping to finish my first draft and start revisions in April, that's my goal!

Ohhh... good luck. It's always harder for me to get any writing done when I am sick because my head is so fuzzy. I can't even read. Things just don't make sense to me. The best I can do is watch movies and laugh insanely when something sad happens and cry at the happy parts (because when I'm sick, my emotions get all mixed up).

I am so excited you are going to query soon! How fantastic!! And thanks for the contest mention. I'm kind of jealous I can't enter my own contest.

I'm glad your son is on the mend. I have a terrible time writing when I feel sick. When my head is stuffy, so is my brain! Hope you are feeling better soon!

I'm sorry you're sick, Shallee! I got all your goodreads updates and thoughts, "Wow, that girl's been reading!" LOL. Now it all makes sense.

Thanks for the heads up about this contest. I entered!

Are you going to Storymakers?? Cause I totally am!

Also, off to check your blogfest entry.

And, I just want to say that your blog is a very happy place :)

We're sick, too. I was slow yesterday and I kept thinking how weird it was cause I got a good night's sleep. yeah, I was running a 102. That'll slow you down...

Oh no! Don't do it! Don't give in to the sickies! (And I hope your little one is fully on the mend now). I'll be Storymakers too! I'll try to watch for you! Though the conference is getting ginormous and it's so easy to miss seeing the people you want to meet!

I'm reading out loud too . . . it's going slow. Need to pick up the pace: i.e. find more time to read!
