Finding the Theme Song-- and I'm being interviewed!

May 19, 2011

Today I'm being interviewed on Chantele Sedgwick's blog! Go check it out and learn more about me (you know...if you're interested. :D) Chantele has a great blog-- her Weird Word Wednesday posts always give me a laugh while expanding my vocabulary.

AND my husband was playing random songs on YouTube yesterday, and this amazing song started. And I went, "OMG, Ash [the MC in Devolutionaries] would love this!" And it became the theme song for Devolutionaries. It's a little scary how excited I am about it. Who knew the story would become a little more real to me with this song? So without further ado, I give you Uprising by Muse. (Sorry, it won't let me embed it.)

So, my friends, do you have theme songs for your stories? Anything you listen to that gets you in the writing mood?

Great interview! I can totally see that song playing in the background in Devolutionaries, though without the teddy bears. Those really freaked me out.

I'm headed over to your interview. And no, I've never had a theme song. There are songs, however, that can put me in certain moods.

I LOVE Muse!! And yes, I have theme songs for all my stories. Sometimes I have theme songs for each individual character. :)

LOVE Muse. And yeah, I use songs for scenes/characters/ whole novels. There are a few songs that bring me right back to my first book ever.

Way fun.

Also, ADORE Chantele - she's super fun :D

I just noticed you have almost 300 followers! Congratulations! You're becoming quite the blogging force!

Anyway, I don't usually have a theme song or anything like that...I have soundtracks! I subconsciously put together lists of 15-30 songs/scores that fit the mood of the various scenes in my WIP. I wrote a post about it (how to get the creative juices flowing).

And congrats on the interview too!

I love making little soundtracks for my books. I find myself repeating some songs for certain scenes as well to get the creative juices flowing. Music is a huge inspiration when it comes to my writing. :)

I think of theme songs a lot! Right now, my book features elemental mages and that Thunder/Lightning song by Salena Gomez always reminds me of it. I picture my characters in explosive scenes and making out scenes and all that jazz. Gets me all sorts of pumped up to write.

Uprising is a great song! I really like Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse too...listened to it a lot during the first draft.

Really enjoyed the interview! Don't tend to listen to music while writing because I find it too distracting. BUT, when editing, I like to listen to slow music.

Just came by to see you after Chantele's post. Great interview. Really inspiring. I don't know how you get anything done with a toddler.

Good to find your blog and look forward to following your posts and writing.

warm wishes
